What is a Consultant
The term consultant has become to be seen in a somewhat jaded light these days.
Let me try to put the term in a better perspective. Your mother was a consultant when she taught you to tie your shoe. Now if mom had not been there, you could have struggled for days or weeks and finally learned a way to tie them.
Mom knew the right way to tie a shoe because her mother had taught her, and so she could help you do it without the awful struggle of trial and error. However, for business people trial and error is frustrating and an expensive way to learn.
Each of you knows how to do something better than I do and can advise me on how I might do it better. At the very least, each of you can give me a totally different perspective and a whole new set of experiences that relate to me and thus provide me with more and perhaps better opinions to solve my problem.
The fact that I make my living as a business consultant does not imply that I am any smarter than anyone else. However it does imply that I have - through my education and 25 years of experience - gained a solid grounding in a broad array of operational aspects of business.
So, from that experience, I can often provide clients a totally new, and in most cases, a cost effective solution to some nagging problems that haunt all businesses
Is not that the acid test for a consultant? To provide a faster and less frustrating solution to your most limiting problems, so that the new approach will save far more than the cost of the consulting services?
A typical client for FRS Consultants is one that is sound on paper, but may not be healthy enough to remain afloat during economic downturns, management changes, increased competition and other outside influences.
What happens in many cases is that business owners sometimes get too close to the forest to see the trees. The changes in their business happens gradually over time and go unnoticed until they are a full fledged problem and for many who don't have the experience to weather the storm it's often too late.
By bringing in a consultant a business owner can get a distinct picture of their strengths and weaknesses; get recommendations based on proven results.
If you own a hair salon or a restaurant and your expenses are growing faster than your revenue, FRS Consultants can help. If you operate a manufacturing shop, an auto and repair shop or a flower shop and your business is growing and your profits are shrinking, FRS Consultants can help.
